Because I can't seem to throw certain design magazines away, saving some back issues of Cottage Living turned out to be a serendipitous decision on my part due to the magazine abruptly folding in 2008 after only 4 years of publication. This magazine was one that everyone LOVED and quickly earned the reputation as a go-to resource to read about the day's design trends and emerging talents. The editorial staff tapped into identifying a style that reflected a mix of casual, chic and classic appeal, that encouraged readers to translate into their own signature look and sense of livability. Adding monthly advice & idea columns from experts P. Allen Smith (garden) and Sara Foster (cooking) rounded out this beloved lifestyle magazine.
It's bananas to think that this issue (above) is 10 year old! Flipping through the pages, the featured articles (the interiors of artist Abby Kasonik's Charlottesville home) and decor accents (Lulu DK fabric photographed on the cover) completely hold up a decade later..... The names of Cottage Living's editorial staff read like a who's who of today's trendsetters..... Check out more below.....
