Balance Design, an interior design firm founded by Stephanie Andrews in 2002, established its brick & mortar presence within one of Candler Park's charming storefront spaces this past Spring. The windows of their studio always catch my eye -- a mix of stylish decor & interesting works of art -- and while in the neighborhood last week, Mr. Ferguson and I made an impromptu visit to check out more on the inside.
We were greeted by Balance Design Director Elisabeth Paulson, who couldn't have been nicer or more helpful in providing the overall details of their studio's objective..... The space serves dual roles, providing offices for the business (located at the back half of the space), and the front half "gallery" features hand-selected retail items - decor, art and accessories. As Elisabeth explains, all the items displayed in their window vignettes are for sale and may find themselves incorporated into some of their upcoming interior design projects. Additional finds for purchase (and perfect gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season) are a lovely mix of awe-inspiring coffee table books and design journals, aromatic candles and pashmina shawls.
We arrived in the midst of the design team rearranging the gallery in preparation for Balance Design's Open House, which is happening tomorrow, Thursday November 5th from 7-9pm. Artwork by local Atlanta artists William Mize and Meredith Ochoa will be showcased alongside the firm's Fall Collection. Elisabeth explains..... "Our Fall Collection consists of curated pieces such as a leather salon chaise, a hand tufted wool rug with pops of citron, original vintage chairs reupholstered in rich fabrics, concrete and bronze lamps, custom pillows in a range of textural fabrics, and (our personal favorite) Bernice the resin black sheep." The Fall Collection's introduction of a rich and inky color palette and mood evoking pieces layered with texture, perfectly complements Mize and Ochoa's work. "We love the way that William has taken broken structures but added surprising color combinations, full of life and texture", says Elisabeth, "Meredith has created larger than life pieces that are sultry, thought provoking and hauntingly beautiful at the same time." Come join the Open House to see more..... Thursday November 5th, 7-9pm. Images from our visit above & below.
"We are innovative, with a fresh sense of style our clients appreciate. Our designs are dynamic, in which we collaborate with our clients. We have a daring approach to interior design, but overall and most importantly we are approachable."
