UK Chefs
British Invasion Week continues with my 3 favorite British chefs.... Each captivating in personality, passion, and culinary style.
Gordon Ramsay ~ He leads with a expert level of high expectations in all aspects of Dining -- the decor of his of restaurants is impeccable, his wait-staff offer exceptional service to patrons, and his food is perfection. Chef Ramsay films cooking show for both UK & US television and is the author of several cookbooks.
Nigella Lawson ~ Nigella's career path started off in Journalism, but quickly changed routes when her home-style cooking techniques and recipes began to attract a loyal following. Her command of such a descriptive vocabulary when talking about food adds to the luscious appeal of her TV show, enhancing just as much flavor & spice as do ingredients to a dish. Nigella is the author of numerous cookbooks, films cooking shows in both the UK & US, and offers her own line of cookware.
Jamie Oliver ~ Jamie's style mixes cooking for family & friends with whats growing fresh in the garden. His casual good times appeal is matched by a true passion of cooking and understanding culinary roots. He is spearheading an anti-obesity campaign in US public schools and exposing the horrors of cafeteria lunch food with his program Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Watch the video below for Jamie's British cooking show - Jamie's 30 Minute Meals - as he prepares the perfect summer brunch/lunch menu.

British Invasion Week continues..... Included below are some of today's top British Style Setters. A group known for a refined eye and attention to detail, with the goal of classic comfort for livable lifestyle needs.
Kathryn M. Ireland ~ this British born interior designer made her way to Los Angeles in the mid 1980s and quickly became sought after for her mix of color, texture, and English country appeal. She has since launched her own line of furniture & custom designed textiles. She was featured in the In Style Home magazine Fall/Winter 2004 issue, with her top 10 design secrets.
The Rug Company ~ Husband and wife owners Christopher & Suzanne Sharp (pictured above), founded their London based custom rug business in 1997. Their success lies in tapping into a network of established designers to create custom patterns for their rugs. Click here to read my previous post on this dynamic duo and see photos of their home from the March 2010 issue of Vogue magazine.
Shabby Chic ~ Rachel Ashwell is the creator behind this style movement that sparked the witty design phrase and company name, Shabby Chic. The essence of the look is English garden meets casual LA living. Her home was featured in the November 2003 issue of Country Home magazine.
Rita Konig ~ The daughter of legendary British interior designer Nina Campbell, Rita takes her own design road when furnishing her home & her client's spaces. Never one to follow the design trends, her look is rooted in classic form, with layers of bohemian spirit & old world European feel. Rita splits her duties, also serving as a journalist with a focus on design features. Her Notting Hill apartment was photographed for the July/August 2006 issue of Domino Magazine.
Jo Malone ~ Scent maker extraordinaire Jo Malone quickly gained a loyal following of her fruit and herb infused scents -- from perfumes to soaps to candles. She sold her London based fragrance company in 1999 to Estee Lauder. She remained on board as Creative Director until 2006. Ever the entrepreneurial spirit, Malone is launching a new line fittingly titled Jo Loves. Watch the video below to see Malone discuss her new venture.

Such sad news for Atlanta's design community.... Owner Claudia Thompson's eclectic home furnishings shop, Providence Antiques, is closing. Now through April 30, the store is offering up to 70% off inventory. Providence has been a longtime fixture in the Morningside neighborhood, with ever changing window displays of Claudia's goods -- a mix of vintage art & furniture, accessories, and lovely finds. 1409 N Highland Ave, 30306 / 404.872.7551
Being a fan of Claudia's style, I have held onto the images her home published a couple of years back. The photos showcase her seemingly effortless ability to mix new & old and her overall appeal of comfort layered with a little sophistication. Check out below.
