I have blogger Sweet Peach to thank for turning me onto Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand. Located on the main drag of East Atlanta, we made a Saturday lunch visit to sample their chicken sausage -- handcrafted from local GA Springer Mountain Farm's 100% natural & hormone free birds. Available Slingers (link style sausage) or Sliders (pattie shaped) are paired with savory toppings and served with fresh bread from Atlanta's H&F Bread Co., a specialty bakery owned by revered chef Linton Hopkins.
Delia's is co-owned by Delia Champion (original founder of the famed Flying Biscuit) & Molly Gunn (owner of the Porter Beer Bar). Originally, the pair sought to take their chicken sausage concept to the streets, in the form of a food truck. Ultimately, the City of Atlanta permitting process set them on a different path, and their acquired postage stamp size space became the perfect alternative.
You order at the counter and your food is brought to you when ready. Casual picnic tables & cafe style tables & chairs are set out in front.
I ordered the "Slaw Sliders" -- chicken sausage pattie (3 to an order) topped with coleslaw and Delia's "Comeback Sauce", with a side of "Wedgies" (thick cut fries); Jim ordered the "Sleazy Cheesy" -- link sausage, sauerkraut, and Wild Heaven cheese sauce with a side of wedgies. A must try are the super rich "Cake Shakes" -- I chose the chocolate one... chocolate ice cream blitzed with a whole chocolate chocolate chip cupcake!
