My Kind of Lakeside Living

I have this memory of vacationing to Maine with my family to an individual log cabin style compound that has long been shared by summering families. The lakeside location was picturesque, but even at my young age, I knew the dark log cabins and damp interiors weren't my cup of tea. 20+ years later, the traditional style standard has turned a page and welcomed a fresh take on lake house design & architecture. Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles May 2011 issue featured a Lake Martin, AL residence that appeals to my kind of lakeside living.... the home blends the right mix of classic elements -- vaulted great room ceiling, rustic wood beans & accents -- with the addition of white details (paint, fabric, finishes), achieving a bright and refined, yet relaxing space.
